160 YEARS OF PALIC

This year Palic celebrates the 160th anniversary of its tourist tradition. The countdown began in January, 1845, when the City Council of Subotica decided to start clearing up Palic for the purpose of swimming. It received recognition as a spa and a summer resort. During its 160 years it has become and remained a place of inexplicably easy relaxation, quick revitalisation and noble entertainment.

-- The events in its environs naturally had a significant impact on the destiny of Palic. Construction of the roads, events on the lake and in the town, political turmoil - Palic experienced all these things in a very sensitive way. And as it usually happens in life - after the rain comes sun, after the sun comes rain - that is the way it is with Palic as well. Fortunately, it seems that the stars have never been so favourably disposed as at this moment. Never in its lifetime have so many favourable signals gathered in one place: the threshold and the door leading to Europe, the motorway, the huge project of clearing the water of the Lake of Palic, thermo-mineral water found, Palic-Tisa channel, the time of the economic hope awakening. The place which in its 160 years has experienced so many changes, lived through an immensity of events, and survived in its heart, undoubtedly represents a permanent, lasting and eternal value --Dragutin Miljkovic said, the manager of the public enterprise Palic-Ludas.

Today Palic disposes of its preserved major resources - natural values, cultural heritage and plenty of experience with hospitality industry.
