PALIC - TEN YEARS LATER: NINOS FENECK MIKELIDIS, MEMBER OF THE INTERNATIONAL CRITICS' JURY
TOO MANY AMERICAN FILMS

Ninos Feneck MikelidisTen years ago you were in the Jury of this Festival. What's new?

-- There is more space, more people, and it is encouraging. This place is increasingly more hospitable. It is a friendly place to visit.

You are a co-producer of the film Delivery, which was shown in the official selection of the Festival. What is the reception of the authors' films like in the Greek cinemas?

-- I would say that this film belongs to the group of the films about immigrants. Too many American films are shown in Greece, so that many domestic films are completely neglected. Twenty-five films have been waiting for three years already to be screened. From tweny-two to twenty-five films are produced in Greece per year, two thirds of which are shown in the cinemas. Only a few cinemas in Athens and a several more in other cities show domestic films, and even they make a selection.

What is your view of the Balkan film? To what extent is it present at the festivals?

-- I myself organize a film festival in Athens and I know what it is like. I also search for the films I would include in the festival of European film, to promote the films from the Balkan countries, as well as from the wider European region.
