There is no Earth for us

The author dissects the soil of Arrabida, one layer at a time using image and sound. From the lush vegetation, through rocky deposits, caves and sea, all the way to the 3D topographic image of the landscape. Building stone factory stands on that soil and is the cause of some sort of a white, dusty and dry infection which got into the surrounding soft green tissue and slowly eats away at it. Tall gray towers, concrete skeletons of factory facilities, branching metallic constructions below and over the ground, cables and machines which produce monotonous sounds from their tireless gears suck the precious material from the soil of Arrabida, systematically changing its shape, precisely packing it and carrying it away on ships. The factory complex, now and then bathing in the reddish light which appears as an effect from a film tape and the topographic sketch with electronic cosmic sounds create an interesting, unknown and a little creepy atmosphere. As if it is letting the viewer to take a peek into unexplored spaces of a distant planet which may look like wasteland. The author processes the sound with fantastic dramaturgy, both in the tone layer of the film and in respect to the image. The approach is well thought out and the use of film language is proficient. A surprising refreshment.
