European film festivals’ network Moving Images Open Borders, had its first official meeting within, yesterday at Mala Gostiona, Palić. Together with European Film Festival Palić the network is composed of Crossing Europe Film Festival Linz (Austria), Festival Del Cinema Europeo (Lecce, Italy), Film Festival Cottbus (Germany), Les Arcs European Film Festival (France)
Scanorama Filmfestival (Vilnius, Lithuania), Seville European Film Festival (Spain).
After a long period of informal meetings and contacts of the festival people, during the 2018 Berlin and Cannes film festivals, action plans that the network should be dedicated to in the future were defined. Realization of the plans started after the Cannes Festival by forming common data base about “less visible” film titles and authors created in countries and regions covered by the network. This way all the network members have access to actual films without significant distribution out of national borders, and programmers get the film base for new and interesting programs. The network activity is also focused on experience exchange in a various segments of festival realization and one of the suggestions was about film lovers’ education, activity intended for young audiences, critics and other film professionals. A new visual identity of the network is planned to be designed as well as regular meetings for preparation of mutual projects and programs.
All these ideas will be detailed and presented on the European Film Festivals’ press conference at Palić.
