Milosav Mija Aleksić was born on September 26, 1923 in Gornja Crnuća, municipality of Gornji Milanovac (Serbia). In 1933, he moved with his family to Kragujevac. He was entered in the register of the Serbian National Theater of the Kragujevac district in 1943. In the same year, he played his first role in the play Maiden's Curse. From Kragujevac, he moved to the Belgrade National Theater in 1949. His first role in this theater was a guard in Hamlet. He moved from the National Theater to the Yugoslav Drama Theater (1951). He returned to the National Theater in 1965. He also played on the stages of other theaters (Atelier 212, Humorous Theatre Belgrade...).
He made his film debut in 1950 in the short film The Fly by Branko Ćelović. He played in more than 50 films. For his acting feats, he received numerous awards and the highest social awards: Golden Arena (Pula, 1962), Laurel Wreath (Festival of Small Stages of Yugoslavia, Sarajevo, 1962), Radio Belgrade Plaque (1969), Seal of the National Theater in Belgrade (1973), Turkey Statuette (Comedy days, Jagodina, 1973), Sterija Awards (1976, 1994), Television Belgrade Plaque (1978), Golden Microphone of Radio Belgrade (1979), Dobrica’s Ring (1982), Branislav Nušić Plaque (Nušić's Days, Smederevo, 1990 ), Grand Prix Ćele Kula (Festival of Yugoslav Feature Film Actors' Achievements, Film Encounters Niš, 1992), Crystal Prism (Academy of Film Arts and Sciences, 1993), and many others.
He died in Belgrade on March 12, 1995.
The exhibition prepared on the occasion of the ninetieth anniversary of the birth of the actor Milosav Mija Aleksić (September 26, 1923, Gornja Crnuća, Gornji Milanovac municipality, Serbia), was premiered in September 2013 in Gornji Milanovac. It was realized in cooperation with the family of Mija Aleksić, the National Theater in Belgrade, Serbian Radio and Television, Yugoslav Film Archive, National Museum of Kragujevac and Serbian Museum of Theater Arts. This year, on the occasion of marking the centenary of the birth of Mija Aleksić, the Exhibition was expanded and supplemented with new exhibits and photographs. The author of the exhibition is Boban Stefanović, and it is produced by Gornji Milanovac Cultural Center.
