David Rousseau is a Parisian best-selling author of detective novels. When his aunt dies, he has to go to Mouthe, the coldest town in France. It is also the hometown of Candice Lecoeur, the blond model, a local cheese factory PR, convinced that she used to be Marilyn Monroe in a past life. After David arrives to Mouthe, Candice is found dead and the police close the case assuming it was a suicide. However, David does not believe it and starts investigating. Among many persons - Candice’s ex-husband, her lover - a book-critic, her therapist, the police chief, a politician, and great number of fans, David finds too many suspects. As the clues pile up, the line between fiction and reality vanishes. This modest but solid second feature film from writer-director Gerald Hustache-Mathieu succeeds in bringing new life into the thriller genre. |
