Scopes of Serbian Cinema in 2010

This round table was organized with the intention to become a traditional one. The contemporary Serbian cinema, that somewhat represents a continuing agony of social transition, calls for this kind of orientation. On the other hand it is a proof of vividness of the cinema which functions in such conditions (personnel changes in Serbian Film Centre, absence of cinema legislation etc.). Therefore, it is of a great importance that this phenomena is continually analyzed from the most significant angles (film critics, authors and professionals, important people and institutions essentially engaged in film etc.) This round table is a chance for Serbian cinema to become aware of its position in region and the rest of the world. This might be the right moment and place for these problems to be transparently reflected or at least discussed.

Unfortunately, everything is up to politics, so film professionals can attend this kind of gathering as an opportunity to send some clear messages and summarize annual results. It can certainly have a symbolic meaning since it will be held in the year that is a hundred-year anniversary of the first Serbian and Balkan long-length feature film, Karađorđe (1911).
