WINNERS OF THE "ALEXANDER LIFKA" AWARD

This year's winners of Alexander Lifka Award, assigned by European Film Festival Palić for outstanding contribution to European cinema, are cult Croatian director, Lordan Zafranović, and the famous Serbian director, Srdjan Karanović. On the eve of 18th edition of the Festival, a selection of films of these two directors will be performed within the selection of Homage programme for the winners of Alexander Lifka Award.
WINNERS OF THE UNDERGROUND SPIRIT AWARD

Winners of the Underground Spirit Award of 18. Palić European Film Festival are Sweden film directing duo Ola Simonsson and Johannes Stjärne Nilsson.
The duet has been making films since 1990 by developing unique style dominated by ironic view on grotesque of modern life and mechanic nature of human commonness. As a contrast to a strict social rules Ola Simonsson and Johannes Stjärne Nilsson set the situations at the edge of the common sense resolving them in an uncommon way. They have become world famous after their film Music for One Apartment and Six Drummers had had its premiere at Canes Festival in 2001. followed by many awards at the most prestigious festivals all over the world. The image of music terrorists invading people’s flats in order to perform by playing on their furniture and household appliances, becomes their trademark. They improve this concept within their first feature film Sound of Noise, 2010. in which a whole town becomes musical instrument for terrorizing its citizens.
The retrospective of films of this fantastic film duo is going to be screened during the 18. European Film Festival, Palić, where they will receive the award.
The Underground Spirit Award was established in 2008. and has been assigned for an exceptional work in independent film making and unique poetic created beyond the main stream of film industry. Winners of the Award so far were cult French filmmaker F. J. Ossang, (2008), German film director Uli M. Schüppel, (2009) and Yugoslav cinema rebel Želimir Žilnik (2010).
FESTIVAL AWARDS
The European Film Festival awards the Golden Tower for the best film and Palić Tower for the best directing, as well as the Jury's Special Prize.
The best film from the Parallels and Encounters Programme will be chosen by the International Critics' Jury.
As well, one artist from the Young Spirit of Europe Programme will also be presented with the Underground Spirit Award.
EUROPEAN FILM GREATS SOCIETY
Aleksandar Lifka Award, which the European Film Festival Palić gives to filmmakers for their outstanding contribution to the European cinema, was established in the year 2000.
