Jean-Marc Barr and Zoran Simjanovic winners of the Aleksandar Lifka Award

This year's winners of the prestigious award Aleksandar Lifka, given by European Film Festival Palic for the contribution to the European cinema, are French actor, director and producer Jean-Marc Barr and Serbian composer and musician Zoran Simjanovic. Laureates will receive awards at the Festival.
French actor, director, screenwriter and producer Jean-Marc Barr is peculiar phenomenon in modern cinema for the integrity of his artistic personality. He studied philosophy at University of California in Los Angeles, at Paris Conservatory and in Sorbonne, and drama at Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. In 1991 he acted in Lars von Trier's film Europa which was the beginning of his future rich collaboration with this controversial Danish director. Jean-Marc Barr also appears in some of the most famous Trier's films - Breaking the Waves (1966), Dancer in the Dark (2000), Dogville (2004), Manderlay (2005) and The Boss of It All (2006).
Serbian composer and musician Zoran Simjanovic has entered the world of music as a young boy where he still is as a musician within different genres and theorist and pedagogue. He has been composing music from 1975 in collaboration with film production companies, TV stations and drama theaters, both national and foreign. Until 2005 he produced music for 61 feature films, for more than 50 TV films and series, for more than 50 cartoons and short films, for more than 500 commercial videos and for about thirty performances in all Belgrade drama theaters.
FESTIVAL AWARDS
The European Film Festival awards the Golden Tower for the best film and Palić Tower for the best directing, as well as the Jury's Special Prize.
The best film from the Parallels and Encounters Programme will be chosen by the International Critics' Jury.
As well, one artist from the Young Spirit of Europe Programme will also be presented with the Underground Spirit Award.
EUROPEAN FILM GREATS SOCIETY
Aleksandar Lifka Award, which the European Film Festival Palić gives to filmmakers for their outstanding contribution to the European cinema, was established in the year 2000.
