Gorki List Audience Award for the film

Gorki List Audience Award at this year's 30 th European Film Festival Palić was assigned to the film "The old oak", directed by Ken Loach. The film was screened as part of the Official Selection.

"The Old Oak" is a film about the future of the last remaining pub The Old Oak in a village in the North East of England, where people are leaving the region because of the closed mines. Houses are cheap and affordable, making it an ideal location for Syrian refugees.

Through this year's 30th edition of the Palić European Film Festival, the multi-year cooperation between Gorki List and the European Film Festival continues. As a loyal friend of the Palić European Film Festival for 27 years, Gorki List makes the atmosphere and festival ambience, but also encourages the viewers to think and react and invites them to feel the world around them with open senses!

With the Gorki List Audience Award for the Best Film, the audience takes an active role and sees the works of film art presented at the Festival from their own point of view. This way, in addition to the opinion of the expert jury, the opinion of the most numerous "jury", i.e. those whose loyalty and dedication to the film helped the Festival to last all these years, is respected. A

cknowledging the fact that the choice of the Best Film according to the opinion of the audience is often based on different criteria than the criteria of the expert jury, the Festival and Gorki List by this award invite festival audience to vote for the best film from the rich film oeuvre of European cinema after the screenings at this year's 30th Festival edition. Gorki List Audience Award, this year, for the eighth time in a row, unerringly feel the pulse of the audience, and the best Film received a specially designed statue.

The previous laureates of this award were: in 2016, the Hungarian film "Kills on Wheels" directed by Attila Till, in 2017, the film "On Body and Soul" by director Ildiko Enyedi, in 2018, the Belgian-Dutch co-production "Girls", in 2019, the film "Les Miserables" by French director Ladj Ly, in 2020, "The Name of the People" by Darko Bajić, in 2021, "Impure Blood - Sin of Ancestors" by Milutin Petrović, and last year the film "Close" by Lukas Dhont.

In addition to the rich film program, the audience of the Festival enjoyed a number of dynamic accompanying contents, and this year the traditional cooperation with Gorky List, which is an indispensable part of the artistic scenography of the festival, was once again extended to the musical part of the Festival program and the concert of the group 357, which gathered a large domestic and international audience.

It is also a confirmation that good friendship last for a long time. Let it last!
