A story about what we place before us as we head into the unknown – the objects that remind us who we are, no matter where we go. We invited hundreds of videographers, filmmakers, travelers, bloggers, and video enthusiasts from around the world to send us footage of the objects people hang from the rearview mirrors of their cars, trucks, and buses. These objects are no longer mere decorations; they become symbols. Symbols of our desire to carry a part of ourselves on every journey – a fragment of our fears, hopes, memories, and even our irrational faith. The film reveals just how fragile and lonely we can be, searching for rituals that comfort and define us, even if cheap, plastic. Part collective diary, part cinematic essay, the film explores the possibilities of cinematic language in describing the world today. It is a story about identity, love, belief, passion, desire, religion, music, landscapes, sounds, symbols, and the times in which we live. Back to...
