Gorki List Audience Award at this year's 28 th Palić European Film Festival goes to film Bad Blood by Milutin Petrović, presented as a part of the Main Competition Program.

The film follows the story of Hadži Trifun, a prominent Serbian merchant, who tries to keep the peace with Turkish authorities, but also to maintain his reputation and influence in Vranje, an important Turkish town near the border with liberated Serbia. While Trifun is preparing his two sons to succeed him as the leaders among the Serbian people, not only the powerful Turkish beys but also his family are causing him trouble. Trifun makes difficult decisions that will later affect his descendants, the heroes of the novel Bad Blood.

Years of cooperation between Gorki List and European Film Festival Palić continue with the 28 edition. For 20 years now Gorki List has been contributing to the Festival atmosphere and ambience, as well as supporting audience to think and act, to imbibe the surrounding world with all senses. By the Audience Award for the Best Film, Gorki List proves that audience can take an active role and judge Festival films from their point of view. That way, beside Official Jury, reflections of “the most numerable jury”, those who have been loyal and dedicated to the Festival all these years, are being recognized.

Recognizing the fact that the selection of the best film based on the opinion of the audiences is often based on different criteria from the criteria of the expert jury, the European Film Festival and Gorki List invited the Festival visitors to choose the best film from the rich film opus of European cinema at this year's 28th Film Festival. The film, chosen by the audiences as the winner of the Gorky List Audience Award, received a specially designed statue.

The Gorki List Audience Award has been awarded six times now. Previous laureates of the Award were: in 2026 Hungarian film The Killer of a Pure Heart by Attila Til, in 2017 On Body and Soul by Ildika Enyedi, in 2018 a Belgian-Dutch co-production Girls, in 2019 French film Les Miserables by Ladj Li and last year The Name of the People by Darko Bajić.
