On the fourth day of the European Film Festival Palić, on Tuesday, July 19, on the press conference at the Great Terrace speakers were Daniela Hakulinen, screenwriter of the film "Girl Picture", Maria Dragush, actress in the film "M.N.R.", Liora Levi, actress in the film "Cinema Sabaya", Majda Ibraković, producer of "This is Our House", Blanka Mészáros, actress in "Eviction" and Nina Latinović, director of the Filmski Front Festival.
Daniela Hakulinen, screenwriter of the "Girl Picture", which was shown last night in the Official Selection, spoke about the theme of the film and the challenges faced by today's generations of young people: "I believe that every generation has its own difficulties and situations that it faces, but I'm glad I didn't have to grow up in the age of social networks and smartphones. When I look back on my childhood, I feel that I was free. Young girls today face a lot of pressure - how to present yourself, how to stand out in the world through all these tools and media, when more people are watching you than ever before. At the same time, I feel that today's youth are resilient, knowledgeable about many topics, very smart. I think it's challenging to be a young girl today, with everything that's going on in the world."
Maria Dragush, the actress in the film "M.R.N" by Cristian Mungiu, talked about the experience of working with this director and the meaning of the film: "Cristian gives you everything you need to know about your role, but he never really explains what things mean. My interpretation of the film's title is that it is a snapshot of our society. As for the ending of the movie, I saw it as a nice way to compare animals and humans. What are we in the end? What's the difference? Why do we do certain things? Do we really think or are we simply guided by our nature".
Liora Levi, the actress in the "Cinema Sabaya" which was shown last night in the "Parallels and Encounters" competition program referred to the specific working method of the director Orit Fouks Rotem: "I was the only fully professional actress on the set, and some of my colleagues have never acted in a film before. Orit used our lives and created a combination of reality and fiction. When you watch a movie, you don't know what is reality and what is acting and that is very unique. Even I, while working on the film, sometimes didn't know if something was real or not. Orit told us not to talk to each other, so that everything would be natural while acting".
Majda Ibraković, producer of the film "This is Our House" in the Eco Docs section, said about the genesis of this project: "The Environmental Center, which produced this film, was working on the topic of coal exploitation, people and nature for ten years. Through this film, we gained a unique experience collaborating with an international team. The specific approach was reflected in the fact that the ecological theme is in focus for us, and for the director - art and visual representation, picturesque landscapes, even if the coal ones or what is left of it - devastated nature and people, their testimonies and stories".
Blanka Mészáros, actress in the film "Eviction" shown in the "New Hungarian Film" section, spoke about her experience with the film: "I felt such a difficult topic, filled with irony and sarcasm, through emotional ups and downs. While we follow the very process of emigration, as a very important dramatic element, as well as the very situations and the essence of these people, all this spices up the story and makes it more interesting. The whole situation was heartbreaking for me."
Nina Latinović, director of the Film Front Festival in Novi Sad, presented the event, which is awaiting its 20 th jubilee edition in the fall to come: "It is a short feature film festival organized by the Novi Sad Cinema Club. The emphasis of the Festival is on the region and the countries of the former Yugoslavia, but we also have an international competitive section. We are most proud of the fact that we are oriented towards the younger population. We are aimed at young authors, but also those who are looking for their own path and are thinking about whether they will devote themselves to directing, to camera or to something else. For years now, a lot of people, after our workshops and volunteering at the Festival, have been enrolling in the Academy".
On the fifth day, on Wednesday, July 20, at the Summer Stage in Palić, in the Official Selection at 9 p.m., the Festival presents films "Gentle" by directors László Csuja and Anna Nemes, and from 11 p.m., "Rimini" by Ulrich Seidl. In the "Parallels and Encounters" section, at the Abazija Cinema in Palić on the programmme are films "Wet Sand" by Elene Naveriani (5 p.m.) and "Silent Land" by Aga Woszczyńska (7 p.m.).
