UNDERGROUND SPIRIT AWARD TO SARA FGAIER

Italian director and editor Sara Fgaier is this year’s Underground Spirit Award laureate assigned by the Palić European Film Festival for outstanding work in the field of independent film, as well as for a unique approach to film language and authentic authorial poetics built outside the mainstream industry. She is famous for GLI ANNI (THE YEARS), for which she won the European Film Award (EFA) for best short film two years ago, and short films ARTURO (2014) and L’UMILE ITALIA (HUMBLE ITALY, 2014 ). As a director she participated in the realization of „9×10“, while as a director, editor and producer she participated in many other award-winning films.

On the occasion of this significant recognition, Sara Fgaier stated: „From the very beginning of my film work, I was lucky to find myself in the milieu of Italian independent film and its creative environment, where I could experience the greatest artistic and creative freedom. From the first independent productions to founding my own organization, my goal has always been to defend and protect independence and freedom, the basis of my artistic creativity.“ The Italian artist pointed out that she was very honored with the award of the Palić European Film Festival. „I value this award as a precious gift, recognition for my first 15 years of work and an empowering amulet for those who are to come,“ Fgaier concluded.
