Basel Adra is a young Palestinian activist from Masafer Yatta, who has been fiercely fighting the Israeli expulsion of his community since childhood. Basel documents the gradual erasure of Masafer Yatta as soldiers destroy families’ homes – the largest single act of forced displacement ever carried out in the occupied West Bank. He crosses paths with Yuval, an Israeli journalist who becomes his companion for more than half a decade as they fight against expulsion together and grow ever closer. The extreme inequality between them haunts their complex connection: Bassel lives under brutal military occupation, while Yuval lives freely. This film, a Palestinian-Israeli co-production by a four-member group of activists, was made during the region's darkest, most terrifying era as an act of creative resistance to apartheid and a search for a path to equality and justice.
