In the mid-1920s, Cevat Şakir, also known as Halikarnas Balıkçısı, is put on trial for an article he wrote. Yet fate does not lead him to the gallows, but to Bodrum. Instead of rotting in prison, he takes a step towards a new life with the helping hand of the district governor. He leaves his past behind, even allowing his former name to disappear. For him, this small town becomes not merely a place of exile, but a place of rebirth. He becomes a man who plants hope in dry, stony soil. He brings seeds from all over the world, plants trees, and transforms nature.
